Dear citizens of Freaksville, Great news here !
We are really proud to presents our new weirdo babies! King Lee presents his first lp in october 08.
After being MC for Starflam in a previous life , l'Enfant Pavé has recorded his first solo album under a new funky moniker: King Lee. With strong hiphop roots and a real writing craftsmanship, King Lee may as well put belgian rap on the map. Homemade electro sounds, funky jazz live sessions, old school hip hop beats , mutant pop soul , punk rock riff samples, haitian music : an eclectic soundtrack for autobiographical tales, contemporary epics with asphalt and marijuana smell. Man from Uranus' first cd "Amazing science friction volume 1" will be out in october on outermusic rec and distributed in benelux and france by the freakville team ! So this is a really good new .. More infos are coming soon. Man From uranus is a electronic solo avantgarde project of a talented (and a little bit crazy) american musician who lived in Cambridge. He performed with Broadcast and his first ep was released on Ann Shelton ( addntox) white label. Marie France is back with french ballad and garage songs ! (check the artist page for bio and press reviews)
Phantom's providing some minimalist rock'n'roll, french blues and existential country music. Marie France rants over these tracks like a parisian Ronnie Spector, with carefree sex appeal and yet an almost painful sense of tragedy. Marie France is an ambiguous character, her life is a spicy comedy and a mysterious melodrama at the same time. It all shows in this record produced by Miam Monster Miam and mixed and mastered by legendary Kramer at noise ( shimmy disc) Ufo goes Ufa is an Anglo-Belge collaboration, which will take you down the rabbit-hole and through the wall to the dark corners of Rock ‘n Roll’s twisted psyche. Pop Garage Symphony No. 9, their first album, stampedes gleefully through assorted styles like a shoplifter in a graveyard. Twanging pop melodies mesh with lo-fi garage fuzz guitars, in a Beefheart-induced sci-fi landscape. The shambolic genius of The Fall collides with the psycho violin and primitive beats of The Velvet Underground, as analogue synths slide and throb over the whole opus like alien tentacles.
You can also find a lot of Freaksville tunes (Phantom, Juan d'Oultremont, Miam Monster Miam, Sophie Galet, on the cd 'Bar Paris', compilation made in England (Nashente rec/Demon music Group Uk) about underground french pop.
