Mais attention, pas de confusion : ici, ni extended mix ni mashup edit, on parle de pop au sens noble du terme. Cette pop culte qui vous brisait le coeur au creux d’un slow et vous mordait les chevilles sur les parquets des dancefloors. Préparez les mouchoirs et faites briller vos bottines... Depuis cinq ans, Freaksville déniche les artistes hors-normes du rock (Ufo Goes Ufa, Jacques Duvall, Phantom Feat. Lio) et leur offre toute latitude au travers du format album. Avec le Singles Club, il va se consacrer à éblouir le format radio en ravivant la saveur des grandes productions pop des 60’s. Objectif : 3’30” de bonheur et d’exubérance. Des one-shot plus raffinés que les meilleurs long-drinks. Le cocktail ? [05/11/2009] English musician Richard Brett’s new CD is a collection of songs rooted in the tradition of English Folk music but tinged with 1960s pop and the spirit of Music Hall story telling. Richard has taken his inspiration from his wife, Mariane, his dog, Pruneau, his new life in Belgium … The songs cover many subjects including a protest against modern life (Sleep ‘til the end of the world), romantic love (Maybe she’ll marry me), a moving statement about getting old (Never enough time to say goodbye), a rock ‘n roll celebrating bad girls (Gonna make you mine) … Rhythms and lyrics intertwine to create a nostaligic ballad, a jumping rock ‘n roll, a funny blues, foot-tapping barn dances … Everything is amusing, colourful, sensitive and intoxicating. [13/10/2009] This amazing record will be out october 12 . Belgian garage band Phantom invites french pop icon Lio for a rumble. At the tender age of sixteen Lio conquered all european charts with "Banana Split", a million seller in 1980. The joyfull Spector-goes-electro track hit number one in Belgium, France and Italy. An English version penned by Ron and Russell Mael (Sparks) did well in Britain too. Since then Lio has enjoyed numerous other successes in both music and cinema. Now she returns to the land where it all began for her and to the music of her heart, unashamed pure rock'n'roll. Completed in three days, the album is driven by the energetic sounds of Liège based combo Phantom. Imagine Debbie Harry backed by the Ramones and you'll have a fair picture of what's going on here. |

The unlikely pair has written ten new songs, ranging from sordid doo wop to demented psychobilly or sweaty white trash funk. Like a gallic Andre Williams, Jacques Duvall is crooning tales of doomed love and hidden demons. Schoos' compositions are sonic equivalents to tragicomic italian giallo movies from the seventies. . With his singing skeleton looks (shaved skull, bony figure), the radical production of Benjamin Schoos and the no-bullshit mixing skills of Kramer (Butthole Surfers, Daniel Johnston...), Jacques Duvall will convince you that belgian rock'n'roll didn't start with Deus. |
